Female MMA Today
The first female MMA fight to feature as a main bout at a major event in the US took place in 2009 when Cris Santos and Gina Carano fought for the 145lb Strikeforce championship title. Santos, known to fans as Cyborg, took the title by TKO at the end of the first.
Other larger MMA organizations to regularly feature female fighters include Bellator, King of the Cage, Revolution Combat Championships and Ultimate Warrior Challenge. Smaller, local shows feature female MMA fighters on an increasing basis.
Our aim on FemaleMMA.org is to help promote all female MMA fighters whether competing at amateur or professional levels, and as we develop the site we aim not only to offer information on female MMA fighters and report on upcoming events, but to build a community where knowledge can be shared and networks can be built.
If you are involved with an event featuring female MMA fighters and would like to be covered on this site please get in touch with us via our contact page.
We are currently working on a major site overhaul and upgrade, we have unfortunately had to put the members section on temporary hold due to spam: this will be fixed when we re-format the site. Thanks for your understanding.
